Tom brings over a decade of experience in the care sector, having progressed through a wide range of roles including Personal Carer, Senior Carer, Deputy Manager, Registered Manager, Business Development, Marketing & PR, and Director. For the past four years, he has held senior management positions, shaping and leading services at a strategic level.
Throughout his career, Tom has completed all relevant qualifications and diplomas, developing extensive knowledge and expertise in health and social care. He is passionate about quality care and is especially inspired by the dedication of frontline staff and the rich life stories of the individuals they support.
Tom began his journey in care overseas, working as a Health Care Assistant in Malta during the winters and a Nursing Assistant in Corfu, Greece during the summers. Since then, he has held leadership positions with various health and social care providers across England and Europe.
Most recently, Tom served as Commissioner for the Department for Education’s Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund (ASGSF) in Yorkshire and Humber, under One Adoption. Before this, he worked extensively with private providers as a Nominated Individual for the Care Quality Commission (CQC), overseeing services across Cumbria, the Northeast, Yorkshire, and Nottinghamshire. His work included commissioning new, state-of-the-art residential and nursing homes, as well as turning around services previously rated ‘Inadequate’ into ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’.
Tom is a strong believer in visibility and approachability. He makes it a priority to be known to both staff and service users, always happy to share a chat and a cuppa, and to listen to the voices of those at the heart of care.
